Introduction
Samsung's Kings Cross store sought an engaging marketing campaign, driving foot traffic while delivering a memorable augmented reality (AR) experience. Tasked with crafting an immersive app, our goal was to captivate users and seamlessly integrate gameplay throughout the store.
Solution
Departing from conventional AR apps, which restrict gameplay to specific locations, our solution allowed users to embark on a scavenger hunt-style adventure, traversing the store's diverse sections using their smartphones. Originally slated for an Easter 2020 launch, the app's Easter egg hunt theme set the stage for a thrilling digital journey.
Initial Puzzle Concept
Our treasure hunt puzzle concept was designed to guide players through the store, incorporating clues and challenges to ensure a seamless and enjoyable user experience. Players navigated the store, unlocking hidden markers to reveal puzzles and progress through the adventure.
'How to play' Ideation
Initial prototype

After extensive testing and iteration, we refined the app's design to maximize user engagement. Removing framing elements enhanced immersion, while bold colors and sharp angles contributed to an energetic aesthetic aligned with the Kings Cross brand. Icons and intuitive navigation features were prioritized, ensuring ease of use for our target audience.

Halloween Release

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Easter launch was postponed, prompting a Halloween-themed revival in October 2020. Embracing the spooky season, we redesigned the app with sugar skulls as the central motif.

Puzzle mechanics were adjusted, culminating in users aligning Halloween-themed skulls with the Samsung KX monogram logo. Rigorous testing ensured a smooth user experience across devices, with six unique Halloween puzzles strategically placed throughout the store.

Final Ui
With the Halloween version finalized, we crafted digital signposting for in-store promotion, inviting users to embark on the AR adventure using their smartphones.
The UI designs seamlessly integrated with the store's ambiance, enhancing the overall customer experience and driving engagement with Samsung's brand and products.

The culmination of our efforts resulted in a captivating and interactive AR experience, drawing visitors into Samsung's Kings Cross store and leaving a lasting impression on users.
Through innovative design and strategic implementation, we successfully transformed the store into a digital playground, reinforcing Samsung's position as a leader in technology and innovation.
